The first full day of school in Baldwin did not go as planned. Yesterday morning, Baldwin City Police Department was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding a social media post referencing a threat to the Baldwin Junior High School. After notifying the school, the Baldwin City Police Department conducted an immediate and thorough investigation of the situation, confirmed the source of the threat, and determined there was no credible threat to students or staff.
The Baldwin City Police Department provided additional presence at Baldwin Junior High, as well as the other USD348 schools throughout the day yesterday, August 16th, just to be sure and to ease the minds of students, staff and parents. They say the safety of Baldwin City children are of utmost importance to the district and the Baldwin City Police Department. They also urge the public… if you see something, say something. Report any threat against any person or building immediately to police.
