A container truck carrying solar panels overturned while turning into Love’s Truck stop in ottawa yesterday morning. The driver of the truck, operated by Rapid KC, says she was turning into Love’s and went through a deep puddle and felt the back wheels of the trailer slide a bit. She looked back and saw the back tires off the ground and tried to pull out of the turn to counter the lifting, but it was too late. At that time, the load in the container shifted, and the truck and trailer rolled onto the drivers side of the south side of Love’s entrance.
Andys wrecker brought two big trucks to the scene and prepared to lift the rig back onto its wheels, but, after nearly two hours, determined they would need more power to do so. They called in an extra-heavy duty truck from Olathe to assist them.
The entrance to Love’s was closed to traffic during that time. The driver of the truck suffered some minor burns and bruising from her seatbelt on her neck and shoulder, but had no other injuries in the crash.
