Need a job? Willing to spend hours on end in a motion capture suit? Tesla is hiring data collection operators at $48 an hour to train its humanoid robots. The job involves wearing motion-capture suits and VR headsets to perform tasks for data collection. Tesla will hire dozens of workers to train the robot known as “Optimus”. The robot will eventually be able to handle jobs ranging from working in a factory to serving as a caregiver.
The job requires workers to walk along test routes and perform designated tasks while wearing a motion-capture suit and a virtual-reality headset for more than seven hours per day. There are some specifications. Like, they preferer people that are about 5 foot 8 inches tall. They will also have to be comfortable wearing the virtual reality headset for long stretches and withstand some disorientation and sickness that comes from wearing the headsets for too long.
