Are the rivers in Kansas running dry? Whenever it gets dry, a river can certainly do that, especially in western Kansas. Rex Buchanan is Director Emeritus of the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas. Buchanan was the special speaker at the annual Eggs and Issues event at AdventHealth Ottawa. He said the Arkansas river in western Kansas is in big trouble.
Buchanan says irrigation has had a big impact on water sources, and it’s vital that a plan be drawn up to properly manage all the water resources in Kansas.
