The problem of water management is a vexing one for all Kansans and perhaps it’s most intense in the western part of the state. Franklin County Commissioner, Ianne Dickinson, had a few observations after attending a water seminar recently at AdventHealth Ottawa:

Experts say heavy irrigation is drying up some rivers to the point where they can no longer be called rivers, except perhaps when it rains heavily and some water runs in a former river for a short time.
