Today marks the 5th anniversary of Legacy Square. The area from First and Walnut to Second and Walnut was transformed from an empty lot to a highly usable space from donations from a variety of businesses, organizations, and individuals who gave money, product and time. The name was officially announced June 19th of 2018 at a kick off event held at the Bottle House by Lonnie King of Image Resource Group, a local employer and parent company of Fashion Incorporated. Construction began that year and King spoke at the dedication September 6th of 2019:
Total cost of the project was $4.3 million, all privately donated, $2.3 million from Fashion Inc alone. The anniversary celebration will be tonight, September 6th, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Legacy Square.
