Late last week the city of Osawatomie public works officials announced a temporary closure of the playground in john brown memorial park for maintenance. The closure was necessary to address a ripped weed barrier beneath the playgrounds fill material. During this past week, crews removed the rubber mulch, eliminating weeds and grass, replaced the weed barrier, and reinstalled the rubber mulch. Additionally, some maintenance and replacement work was performed on the plastic border timbers. The entire playground was inaccessible all week long during this maintenance.
Officials say maintaining the city’s playgrounds is essential to ensure they’re safe and enjoyable for everyone, and they appreciate patience while they have made the improvements. They says they are committed to reopening today, just in time for the weekend. But, if that’s no possible, they encourage residents to explore other outdoor spaces this weekend, such as the Flint Hills Trail, Osawatomie Lake, or Anna January Park, to enjoy some time outside with your families.
