It’s that time of year… cold and flu season is approaching and many people are going to be looking to get their annual flu shot to hopefully prevent getting sick. The Franklin County Health Department suggests getting vaccinated before flu viruses begins spreading in the community, since it takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against flu. Make plans to get vaccinated early this year, before flu season begins. The Center for Disease Control recommends that people get a flu vaccine by the end of October.
Vaccines are available now at the health department and people are encouraged to call and make an appointment to get your shot now. Franklin County Health Director Brenda Pfizenmaier and nurse practitioner, Susan Moor, will be our guests Thursday morning on the Brad Howard Early Morning Show with more information. Over 650,000 people, world wide die from the flu every year…kind of scary. Get your flu vaccine soon.
