City of Osawatomie officials announced that the intersection of 6th Street and Pacific Avenue was reopened to east/west traffic yesterday, September 23rd. Now that it is open, contractors will close the Brown Avenue intersection to east/west traffic and begin the demolition process for its rebuild. At this time, the entirety of 6th Street from Lincoln Avenue to Kelly Avenue is a 15mph work zone and is limited to southbound traffic only. Please obey all posted traffic signs and never move or drive around road closed barricades.

Speaking of driving around barricades… The concrete being poured on 6th street between the south side of Brown Avenue and the north end of Kelly has been marred by vandalism. Someone has driven around barricades and onto fresh cement. That caused $70,000 worth of damage last week. Again, officials urging motorist to not drive around the road closed signs. The signs are there for everyone’s safety and protect the concrete as it cures. If there is a barricade labeled road closed that means the road is closed even if there is room to maneuver around.
