Christopher Wasser, Ottawa High Class of 2001, will be enshrined on the OHS Wall of Honor tonight,September 26th, the highest honor given to a Cyclone graduate. He was involved in various activities while in school, including band and powerlifting. Hell bent on serving his country, Wasser and a good friend signed into the United States Marine Corp Delayed Entry program in January of 2001. Ironically, he began basic training on an infamous date, September 11, 2001. On top of that, he graduated on the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Chris chose to become an infantry man with recognition in precision rifle experience. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal and served the Third Battalion Regimental Combat Team 7, Lima Company, Third Platoon. He was deployed to Kuwait in January of 2003 and then again to Iraq providing security and stabilization operations. His company was caught in an ambush during Operation Iraqi Freedom and killed by enemy fire in April of 2004.
The Wall of Honor Banquet and Ceremony will be held tonight at Ottawa High. Joining Wasser on the Wall will be Class of 1974 Gary Brockus and Class of 1984, Trent Lancaster.
