Another country music legend has died. Kris Kristofferson died peacefully at his home in Maui on Saturday, September 28th. The actor and songwriter wrote some of the most famous hits in country and rock music, including Sunday Morning Sidewalk, made famous by Johnny Cash, and Me and Bobby Magee, belted out by Janis Joplin, and, “Help Me Make It Through The Night, a hit song for Sammi Smith, Elvis Presley and others. Says his proudest moments were working as one of the Highwaymen, with Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.
He was an accomplished actor, starring opposite Barbara Streisand in A Star Is Born, he was “Rubber Duck” in the movie Convoy and many others including western style movies, and his latest role as President Andrew Jackson in the mini series Texas Rising. He said one of his favorite songs was “Why Me” that he sang with the Highwaymen:
