Auburn Pharmacy has announced that Garnett Pharmacist, Casey Smith, has been honored with the prestigious Preceptor of the Year Award for 2024 in retail pharmacy, by the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. This esteemed recognition is awarded to only four preceptors out of a pool of 1,200, underscoring Casey’s exceptional contributions and impact on the next generation of pharmacists. What’s a preceptor, you ask? They are licensed pharmacists who supervise and mentor pharmacy students or residents during their clinical rotation. The Preceptor of the Year award is a significant honor, voted on by graduating pharmacy students who have experienced firsthand the dedication and excellence of their preceptors. Casey has demonstrated outstanding mentorship, commitment to student development, and a profound impact on the education of future pharmacists.
Casey says he is honored to even be nominated for such an award and has absolutely loved teaching all of the students that pass through Garnett. The award highlights the critical role that preceptors play in shaping the future of pharmacy practice.
