In a darkened forest of Southern Thailand, scientist stared at a creature in wonder. It was stocky with muscular thighs and as it called out for a mate with a raspy ratchet like call, it caught the attention of other scientists. They had never seen anything like it. What were they looking at?

You just heard the mating peninsular narrow mouthed frog, a new species, never seen before. They reach just over 1 inch in length. They have triangular bodies with almost smooth skin, long hindleg’s and robust, muscular thighs. Their triangular heads have a short snout and small, light-bronze eyes. Peninsular narrow-mouthed frogs live in lowland forests. They were usually found at night after heavy rains and seen sitting on the ground or on rotten logs nearby sandy, slow-moving streams. So, the next time you are exploring deep in the jungles on Thailand and you hear…

You can sound smart and tell your friends what it is and all about it and you learned it on KOFO’s science lesson of the week.
