If the cold wasn’t enough, a fire weather watch has been issued for Franklin, Anderson, Douglas, Osage, Miami and Linn Counties in the KOFO listening area, in effect from tomorrow morning October 17th, through tomorrow evening. A ‘fire weather watch’ means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast. Extremely dry conditions, combined with winds at 18-25 mph with gusts up to 40 and low humidity are expected and any fire that starts will spread quickly.
K-State Meteorologist, Chip Redmond, with the Kansas Forest Service:
However, it’s dry everywhere, so please be very careful and do not, under any circumstances, light any fires today, or for the foreseeable future. Please be very careful.
