Ottawa University officially has a new president. OU has announced that Dr. Bambi Burgard will serve the role as President for the Ottawa campus. Her first official day was yesterday, October 8th. Dean of Student Life Donald Anderson says Dr. Burgard emerged as a clear choice to lead the campus forward, after an extensive search. She was named Interim President back in June and since has impressed students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the larger Ottawa Community with her warm, inclusive personality and her ability to take on tough issues. Dr. Burgard gives a bit of her background:
Dr. Burgard earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology at University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she was awarded the Hellen Kemper Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Her graduate training included practicum experiences at Children’s Mercy Hospital, the VA Medical Center, and a community mental health agency.
