Another sign of fall, is the end of daylight savings time and….that starts this weekend. With the time change, not only do we lose an hour of sunlight, but also, we need to think about changing the batteries or replacing the smoke detectors in our house. Former Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Mathias, says they offer them at no charge:
If you need new ones, contact the fire department and they will schedule a time to come to your house and install them in the proper places. Daylight savings time officially ends at 2:00 Sunday morning, November 3rd, so make sure you set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed tomorrow night.
