Neosho County Community College was awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $56,798 by the Kansas Board of Regents. The grant was awarded to fund efforts which address the needs of special populations and underserved groups of students in the area. Awarded funds will be used to provide training to career and technical education instructors and to purchase required tools and equipment.
The automotive technology program has a certain list of industry-standard equipment items which are required by the program’s accreditor. This grant will allow these tools to be provided to students, free of charge, in order to remove the financial barrier for entering the program. Instructors will take a course titled “Teaching Strategies for English Language Learners,” which focuses on designing inclusive and supportive learning environments for students who are non-native english speakers.
