Governor Laura Kelly announced Friday, November 1, that four Kansas communities have secured more than $1.9 million in infrastructure funding to improve local airports. The communities secured more than $1.7 million in federal bipartisan infrastructure law funding from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Infrastructure Grant Program. The projects also received almost $200 thousand in matching funds from the Kansas Infrastructure Hub and Build Kansas Fund.
Independence Municipal Airport will receive a total of just over $372,000 for taxiway rehabilitation; Hutchinson Regional Airport gets $881,000 to construct an aviation taxi lane; Coffee County Airport receives almost $287,000 for taxi rehabilitation; and Elkhart Morton County Airport will get over $236,000 for runway rehabilitation.
