Governor Laura Kelly announced recently that more than $6.8 million in federal funds will be directed to nine new locations selected for the state’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program. These new direct-current fast-charging stations add to Kansas’ existing electronic vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, forming a more complete statewide EV charging network.
One of those new charging stations is right her in Ottawa. It will be installed at Love’s Truck Stop in south Ottawa. Officials say all nine will be fast charging stations. Governor Kelly says investment enhances Kansas infrastructure and helps meet the needs of all who travel through the state. Under the statute, all new charging stations must always be accessible to the public and provide other amenities, such as food, beverages, restrooms and shelter from inclement weather.
