Anderson County has a new County Commissioner. Republican Mike Blaufuss took the race with 826 votes to Phyliss Gettler’s 285 votes. Anderson County also has a new sheriff. Undersheriff Wes McClain gained 3,453 votes to soundly defeat write in Rob Smith, who only received 207 votes. In the Garnett City Commission race, incumbent Jody Cole took the election with 841votes to Justin Thompson’s 420, with write-in-candidate Mark Powels receiving 90 votes. Running unopposed, Steve Wilson was officially voted in as the new County Attorney.

On the state level, in the Kansas 12th District Representative race, incumbent Republican Caryn Tyson defeated Libertarian challenger Cullene Lang handily in Anderson County, garnering over 85% of the vote to Lang’s 14%. Tyson also easily won district wide.

For District 3 Representative, Republican Prashanth Reddy, took the county vote with 2,488 votes to incumbent Sharice Davids 890, however, District wide, Davids won reelection. Anderson County voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump for President.

All election results are preliminary. They will be certified as official after the County Canvass on November 18th.
