The Kansas Supreme Court will hold session in Louisburg one week from today and they have a very special bailiff that night at Louisburg High School. Sherman “Wes” Coles has been selected by Chief Judge Amy Harth of the 6th Judicial District. She says Coles life experiences make him an excellent choice as Honorary Bailiff. Coles Chairs the Governor’s Behavioral Health Services Planning Council and is a member of the Kansas Hospital Association Behavioral Health Committee. He was a licensed Mental Health Technician at Osawatomie State Hospital for 34 years, retiring as Director of Activities Therapy. Post-retirement, he twice served as its superintendent. He served as Vice Chair for the Miami County Kansas Historical Museum, as an adjutant for the local American Legion Post, and as Mayor, City Manager, and City Council Member for Osawatomie.
Chief Justice Marla Luckert says they want to invite the people of Louisburg and surrounding communities to join them to hear the case. She says it’s a great way to get to know how the court works, what they do and how they do it. The court will be in session from 6:30 to about 7:15 the night of the 12th. After the session concludes, justices will greet the public in an informal reception.
