Some people may have received a letter from the City of Ottawa regarding a lead pipe survey. If you have not filled out the survey, city officials urge you to do so soon. They want to have a definite idea of the types of materials that are delivering water to residents. They remind residents that the material is not an indication of lead being present in our drinking water or distribution system but rather galvanized and unknown material. The information being collected is purely for inventory purposes, helping them better understand the materials used in the infrastructure, and is part of a nationwide initiative to improve water safety and ensure communities have access to clean, safe drinking water.
