With colder temperatures heading our way and winter right around the corner, the City of Ottawa would like the public to know they have a Winter Utility Assistance Program designed to assist with utilities. You have to meet two guidelines. An applicant must receive Social Security Benefits or veteran of armed services benefits, and, receive state food assistance or meet the combined gross income requirement of all people at the address must not exceed 130% of the Federal Poverty Level.

One more thing, all applicants must have the bill paid before the next bill comes out in order to keep assistance going for the full four month period. Also, applicant must provide SSI or SSDI verification to the City of Ottawa. You can apply a the city’s website…”ottawaks.gov /utilities.”
