The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks stocks nearly three dozen lakes in the state with trout. Crystal Lake is the closest, followed by Lake Shawnee in Topeka. The others spread out all over the state. The majority of the trout stocked are rainbow, however, you can expect to see an occasional palomino or golden rainbow trout. All the fish are catchable size, but there are a few lunkers added in to give anglers extra opportunity to catch a trophy fish. Remember though, you do need a license, and can get a daily license for as little as five dollars. Head on out to Crystal Lake after you get your license, and try your luck at trout fishing.
