What has 108 motorcycles and a total of 118 vehicles and cruises Main Street with a police and fire escort? The 38th Annual Toys for Kids Motorcycle Run, benefiting ECKAN! The toy run was held last Saturday afternoon, November 23rd, and it did not disappoint. The parade was led by a huge open trailer stacked high with new toys and concluded in Forest Park, where the ECKAN truck was waiting to load all the goodies. Quite a site as the huge number of bikes lined the main road into the park, the pool parking lot and the road leading to the baseball diamonds.
Several riders said it was one of the largest runs in recent history. All the toys are donated to ECKAN, to be given to families in great need that otherwise might not be able to give gifts to their children during the Christmas season. The toy run was the dream of Shep Collins and Bob Black, who organized the first run in 1986, and it has grown bigger and better through the years, raising thousands of dollars and thousands of toys for ECKAN Christmas programs.
