A man in Louisburg drove himself to the fire department Wednesday seeking medical attention for a gunshot wound. The Louisburg Police Department says the man arrived at the fire department just after noon Wednesday, November 27th, seeking treatment for a gunshot wound suffered in what police called an earlier firearms related incident. Louisburg Police, Miami County EMS and LFD personnel got the man from his vehicle into an ambulance and transported him to the hospital for treatment and surgery. Police say the incident is under investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Department and the Louisburg Police Detectives and involves the truck the man was driving, which remains parked in the parking lot of the Louisburg Fire Station.
It’s unclear what exactly led up to the shooting, but police said another person involved in the event was identified and is cooperating with the investigation. Wednesday evening, Police Chief Josh Weber said there is no further threat to the general public and had no additional information to provide.
