The emergency cold shelter in Ottawa will be open tonight, December 4th. The shelter is open on night’s where the predicted low is 20 degrees or less. And tonight, it will dip to 18.
Homeless Coalition Representative Brett Staneslow says they believe there are over 50 people in the Ottawa area that are homeless, and most, if not all may be looking to seek shelter from extreme cold this winter. It is the season of giving and there are many needs at the shelter and you can help. The coalition has formed an Amazon Wish List, which can be found on their facebook page and KOFO’s facebook page. The link will take you to Amazon and direct you to what items are needed at the shelter. There is also a link on their page with information on how to volunteer at the shelter.
The shelter is at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa. They will be open at 5:00 this afternoon.
