The Kansas Highway Patrol has released it’s Thanksgiving Holiday activity report. It appears that Kansas drivers used more designated drivers this year as there were only 13 DUI arrests compared to 18 last year and 29 the year before. However, drivers were in a much bigger hurry this year. The KHP reports over 1,100 speeding tickets, nearly double the number from last year, with a huge jump in speed warning also.
Remarkably after all the attention paid to keep motorists safe by using seat belts, there were more than twice as many seat belt citations compared to last year, and a high incident of child restraint citations.
For the second year in a row, there were no DUI related crashes or deaths. However, they report one non DUI related fatality. The reporting period ran from Wednesday at midnight through Sunday at midnight.
