This past football season, Osawatomie High School made a tough decision. They decided to cancel their varsity football season due to a lack of returning upperclassman. The district said it was prioritizing player safety by forcing leaders to choose between varsity or jv, but not both. Players and staff were worried that people would be disappointed and, they may have been, but underclass players appreciate the decision. First year coach Eddie Minor:

Minor says he is working hard to regain interest in the football program with the student body, prioritizing strength training and rebuilding culture. He says the people in the community live and breath Friday night football and has seen huge success in the past and they want it back. He says rebuilding a program to its former glory begins with looking at the past to understand the present. Varsity football will return next fall.
