Douglas Whitley of Leawood, KS died December 8th, 2024. He grew up in Franklin and Douglas counties in KS, graduating valedictorian from Baldwin high school. He graduated from Baker University where he was a member of Alpha Delta Sigma Honor Society and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He completed medical school at the University of Kansas, as well as a dermatology residency at Northwestern University. During his training, he contributed to scholarly work related to treatment of skin cancer and psoriasis as well as innovation in hair transplant and chemical peels. Throughout his life, he prioritized lifelong learning and medical innovation. Dr. Whitley served as a physician in the United States Air Force. Dr. Whitley returned to Kansas in 1973 to build a private dermatology practice serving Johnson County for fifty years with dedication and excellence. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Faith. He is survived by his sister, Diane, his three children, Anne, Miles, and Jane, as well as his grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
