A musical icon has passed away. Michal brewer, one-half of the duo Brewer & Shipley, who were among the pioneers of the 1960’s folk rock movement, passed away yesterday, December 17th. While best known for their billboard top-10 hit, “One Toke Over the Line,” it was the duo’s masterful guitar work and signature harmonies that won them praise from critics and fans alike. At the height of their success, Brewer & Shipley could regularly be seen on many of the biggest television shows of the day, and shared the stage with many of the biggest musical names of the era. Michael Brewer is in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and the duo is in the Kansas and Missouri Music Hall of Fame, and several others. They continued to perform all across the nation until 2020. He was 80 years old.
