Scranton – Betty Ann Bame passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was 72 years young and lived life to the fullest. She was born on March 29, 1952, in Canton, Georgia, the daughter of Floyd and Leona (Krallman) Sims.
Betty lived in Georgia until her family moved to Scranton, Kansas in 1964. She attended Scranton Grade School and Santa Fe Trail High School. After graduation, Betty started work for Frito Lay in Topeka and worked there for 41 years, until her retirement in 2011.
Betty enjoyed many hobbies and liked to travel, including attending her grandchildren’s many activities, camping and being with family. She loved gardening, flowers, birds and being outdoors.
On June 10, 1972, Betty was united in marriage to Jerry Bame in Overbrook, Kansas. To this union, three daughters were born, Rebecca, Melissa and Katie.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Sims; and her brother, Billy Sims.
Betty is survived by her husband Jerry of 52 years; her three daughters, Rebecca (Wayne) Brown of Olathe, Melissa Bame (Brian) of Scranton and Katie (Mark) Womeldorff of Olathe; her six grandchildren, Caleb (Wednesday) Harmes, Brendan Harmes, Gage White, Morgan Brown (Kenneth Nowatzke), Wyatt Womeldorff and Cassidy Womeldorff; one great-grandson, Wesley Harmes; her mother, Leona Sims of Overbrook; her three brothers, Jerry (Pam) Sims of Canton, Georgia, Eddie (Lauri) Sims of Ball Ground, Georgia and Robert (Elaine) Sims of Kansas City, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Sims of Ball Ground, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 30, at the Overbrook United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Ridgeway Cemetery, northwest of Overbrook. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time at the church.
