The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its Christmas Holiday activity report. The reporting period for the holiday ran from 6:00 in the evening on December 24, through midnight on December 25th .

The Kansas Highway Patrol worked one fatal non-DUI related crash. The fatal crash occurred in Doniphan County. Overall DUI arrests were the same as last year with 7, but down significantly from 2022, which saw 22. Speed citations and warnings also down significantly this year over last. It seems motorists were trying to be safer, as seat belt citations were also down 33% over last year, as were motorist assists. The KHP will be out patrolling the road for the New Years holiday this week. They encourage everyone to buckle up and make sure you have a designated driver if you are going to be drinking any alcohol.
