Governor Laura Kelly announced on Monday, December 30th, over $1.5 million for 20 organizations to support efforts aimed at preventing family, domestic and dating violence; providing critical services to survivors of domestic violence and increasing safe parenting time for noncustodial parents with their children. One of those receiving an award is the Willow Domestic Violence Center, who serves Douglas, Franklin and Jefferson Counties. They will receive just over $76,000. Kelly says the investments not only provide aid to survivors of domestic violence, but also aim to prevent future incidents from occurring.
The Willow Domestic Violence Center provides safe and confidential supportive shelter services for all survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking and their children. Their 24-hour crisis hotline provides information, safety planning and intake into the shelter and has staff dedicated to serving the unique needs of survivors of human trafficking, as well as offering community education and outreach.
