Andrew Scott “Andy” Burns, born on December 20, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 13, 2024, at AdventHealth South Overland Park in Overland Park, Kansas. A beloved son, father, and grandfather, Andy will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and his passion for staying busy throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School, class of 1985, Andy went on to dedicate his career to the logistics and warehousing sectors. He served as a forklift driver at Kabota and Coldpoint in Gardner, Kansas, as well as at the Walmart Distribution Center in Ottawa, Kansas. His commitment to his work was evident to all who knew him.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Andy proudly served his country in the Army and the National Guard, reflecting his strong sense of duty and discipline.
Andy had a wide array of interests that brought joy to his life, including camping, fishing, and a deep admiration for old cars. He was an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs football team, often found cheering passionately for his favorite players.
He is survived by his wife, Tracey Burns of New York; son, Scott Burns and daughter-in-law Brianna; his daughter, Amber Krugjohn and son-in-law Nathaniel; and his beloved grandson, Mavrick Burns. These family members will carry forward the spirit and memories of Andy in their hearts.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Shirley (Ganshorn) Burns, who provided him with love and guidance throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Andy will be held on January 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Smoked Creations, located at 222 East Logan Street, Ottawa, Kansas.
