Venona Lucille “Nona” Schrant, 91, of Richmond, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Rock Creek of Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas.

Celebration of life will be held January 15th, 2025, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. The family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00am with services directly following.

Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.

Nona (Grandma NoNo) was born, February 4, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond Otho and Mary Velora (Gleason) Bloomer. Nona lived most of her life in the Eastern, Kansas area. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1951.

She married Harold Floyd Robertson in 1953, though this marriage was not permanent, they did have 4 children together. During the early life of her children, she was totally responsible for their support and guidance. She later provided that same guidance to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 14th, 1983 she married Louis Joseph Schrant. He stepped up and became the loving father and grandfather that her loved ones adored.

Nona was a hardworking woman that had many jobs to support her family. Most notably she worked for H.D. Lee from 1967-1989, the company sold and she went to Designer Products, then retired from ATI in her late 70’s.

She loved collecting horses of all shapes and sizes, key chains, music boxes, and McDonalds toys. She also loved word search, puzzles, painting, and beating anyone at a game, with her competitive nature. She was known to make a special quilt for family and gave many to nursing homes as Christmas presents, making over 200 in her lifetime.

She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Louie; her parents; sister Venita Bishop; granddaughter Dana Brown Drimmel; Great Grandson Jaiden Drimmel; Great Granddaughter Bristol Brown; and niece Brenda Reddell.

Survivors include her children Virginia Brown, of Ottawa, Kansas, Vicki Schulz (David) of Rantoul, Kansas, Vada Scott (Galen) of Florida, and Daniel Robertson (Angie) of Lebo, Kansas; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
