Ruth Ann Lange, 96, formerly of Dover, Kansas passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at Wellsville Health & Rehab, Wellsville, Kansas surrounded by family.
She was born July 2, 1928 in Humboldt, Nebraska, the daughter of Alfred L. Rist and Harriette (Thorp) Rist. Ruth graduated from Humboldt High School. She received her Master’s Degree in Education.
On May 31, 1964, Ruth was united in marriage to Glenn E. Lange in Humboldt, NE. It was the second marriage for both. This marriage created the “Lange Gang” when each of their 3 children became one family. They shared over 32 years of loving marriage until Glenn’s passing on August 2, 1996.
Ruth worked as a librarian, teacher, and accompanist for Mission Valley High School for over thirty years, retiring in 2004. During that time her talent for and love of music shone through at every school program, musical, play, and beyond. She also shared her gift of music as a member of the Dover Federated Church, playing the piano and organ for church services, weddings, socials, and funerals. She was a member of P.E.O., The Red Hat Society, and Ladies’ Aid at the church. She was also a sponsor for KAYS and Junior class sponsor for many years, while at MVHS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Harriette Rist; her husband, Glenn E. Lange; and a daughter, Barbara Boland.
Ruth is survived by Granddaughter Misty (Lange) Kuntz her husband Damon and their two children Rylee and Dylan all of the home.
She is also survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Dorland and her husband, Robert Blankenship, Tempe, Arizona, Phyllis Dixon and her husband Tom, Gloucester Point, Virginia, Candis Scoby and her husband Milton, Baldwin City, Kansas; two sons, Warren “Bruce” Dorland and his wife Sharla, Burlingame, Kansas, and George Armond, Kansas City, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Dover Federated Church, 13533 SW 57th Street, Topeka, Kansas. To celebrate Ruth’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Dover Federated Church.
