The Ottawa City Commission will meet this afternoon, January 8th, their first meeting of the new year. One item on the agenda is a report on vacant residential land within the city limits of Ottawa. Director Lucas Neece will provide an overview of the vacant land and the benefits of building new housing on the at land, known as infill development, within the community.

Also, a request to authorize the purchase of a digger derrick. What’s that, you ask? It’s a truck with a large drill like apparatus that is used for setting poles for the city’s electric department. Assistant Utilities Director, Jeff Oleson, will ask the city to purchase one of the trucks for just over $359,000. There will also be a review of an application for a cereal malt beverage license for the Ottawa golf course. City Clerk Melissa Reed will discuss that item.

The meeting will be held at City Hall and be live streamed on the City of Ottawa’s facebook page and youtube channel starting at 4:00 this afternoon.
