Two Franklin County jailers have graduated from a prestigious institute. Lieutenant Tammy Alexander and sergeant Madison Garner graduated from the National Institute for Jail Operations Elite Academy. The program covered topics such as policy development, inmate rights, inspections and more, while equipping them with real world solutions. They say it’s about creating smarter and more effective corrections departments.
Every jail operates with different policies, and vary in design, population’s needs and resources. The Sheriff’s Department says many people don’t realize the complexities of running a jail and the challenges faced. The course offers ways for all jails to stay fully informed on current legal standards.
They add that for several years, Franklin County has made many changes to adapt to current correction policy and training such as this, helps them improve their overall operations. They look forward to using the knowledge the two gathered, to advance the safety and efficiency of the Franklin County facility.
