The City of Ottawa is fortunate to have a power plant, and we can generate our own power when necessary. Most of the energy we use is purchased off the grid from Evergy, as it is more cost effective. But, Public Works Director Scott Snethen says without our own system, outages would be longer:
Snethen was presenting an overview of the electrical operations to City Commissioners. He added that last several outages in Ottawa had nothing to do with Ottawa, but the loss of the main feed from Evergy. The power was restored quickly by local generation.
