
Five people were transported to the hospital, including two with serious injuries — following a head-on crash yesterday morning, March 5th, on an icy road in Douglas County. The crash was on US-56 Highway about 6 miles east of Baldwin City. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pickup truck, driven by 45-year-old Christopher Hills of Edgerton, was westbound on US-56 when he lost control of the vehicle because of icy road conditions. The truck slid left of center and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Patricia Hill, of Baldwin City, who was eastbound on US-56. She was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Hill was also taken to Overland Park Regional with minor injuries, however, a passenger in the truck, 44-year-old Kelli Hill was transported with serious injuries. Other passengers, 15-year-old Eston Hills and 10-year-old Kamberlee Hills receive minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol reported several crashes in that same area of US-56 highway, which was reported to be “very icy” yesterday morning.
