A 28-year-old Ottawa man was taken into custody following an incident in which he allegedly struck a 50-year-old man with his car. Clayton York is charged with aggravated battery, reckless driving and withholding information from a law enforcement officer, after striking Sean Sharp during an incident that was called in to Linn county dispatch at about 5:00 Thursday afternoon, March 6th. A preliminary report by the Linn County Sheriff’s office indicated that Sharp was not taken to the hospital. However, the dispatch log indicated he might have suffered minor injuries. Linn County Undersheriff Bobby Johnson says the incident is still under investigation; however, he says the incident probably stemmed from an altercation between the two men a week and half prior to the alleged attack.

According to the dispatch log, after striking sharp with the vehicle, York left the scene of the incident but did returned a short time later and was questioned by deputies before being taken into custody. Bond for York was set at $50,000.
