Jo Ann Butler, age 78, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Jo Ann was born August 3, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Phil and Emma (Dowell) Butler.
Jo Ann attended school in Iola and Iola Junior College. At 18 years-of-age she started working at Jones Jewelry and eventually purchased the store, where she was working weeks prior to her death. Jewelry was her true compassion. She was very knowledgeable about jewelry and enjoyed wearing and gifting others with it.
Jo Ann was a lifetime Chiefs fan, cheering them on to their very first Super Bowl. She enjoyed watching them play and never missed a game.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters and their spouses, Vivian and Sterlin Michael, Judy and Don Helman, Margaret and John Robb.
Jo Ann is survived by nephews, Tim (Cheri) Michael, Dan Michael, John Michael, Mark (Alysha) Michael, Michael Helman; nieces, Lori (Mark) Bland, Lisa (Rodney) Sigg, Theresia (Randy) Lampe; and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service and burial for Jo Ann will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
