William Ray “Bill” House, age 78 of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Funeral services will be 1PM, Monday, March 17, 2025 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 3-5PM, Sunday, March 16, 2025, also at Wilson’s. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix Hospice, in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

William Ray “Bill” House was born September 24, 1946 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Harvey Ray and Vada Josilene (Rew) House. He grew up in Wellsville and graduated from WHS in 1964.

Bill joined the United States Air Force on February 2, 1965 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1968

On July 28, 1977, Bill married Sharon Kay (Embry) Young in Wellsville. They shared 47 years of marriage before his passing. Sharon survives at the home.

Bill worked for ATT in building maintenance, retiring after being employed for 30 years.

For many years Bill helped his father, Harvey at the full-service Mobile gas station here in Wellsville. He loved fast cars, motorcycles and dragsters and all manner of race cars. He loved classic cars and car shows as well. He was a member of the Mo-Kan Chapter Late Great Chevy Club where he had served as president in 1987 and 1988. Bill loved to golf and worked at Shadow Glen in Olathe for some time. He was a member of the Wellsville American Legion and VFW.

Bill is survived by his wife of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Tammi Young of Baldwin City; Brian and Tracy Young of Fort Walton Beach FL; grandchildren, Shane Young and Kali of Olathe; Taylor Young of Oklahoma City, OK; Brody Young of Kansas City, MO; Hunter Wagaman of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Ryker Wagaman of Omaha, NE; one great-granddaughter, Ava Wagaman of Fort Walton Beach, FL;  Brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Karen House of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
