Joann Marlene (Clark) Hill, 85 of Pomona, KS, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 27th, 2025 surrounded by her family. Jo was born January 21st, 1940 in El Paso, TX the daughter of William Clark and Phyllis (Gleason) Clark. She received her GED from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1958.

Jo had three passions in her life: God, family and her animals. Regarding her family, Jo and her husband Don, raised several children as their own. Jo began with her own children at the young age of 16 and continued until God called her home. She was always someone that naturally turned to help meet a need. In addition to having children living in the home, Jo would also host events at her home so that the neighborhood kids would have a place they could hang out and have fun. Whether it was a Sunday night watching WWE on PayPer View or a late-night poker game among a group of high school boys. Kids were always coming in and out of the home. Jo always had a house full of kids and she wouldn’t have traded this experience for the world.

Jo had a love for animals. There wasn’t a stray cat in Pomona that didn’t get a good meal, if they knew where to go to get it. In the backyard, Jo had set up a large old doghouse that was filled with fresh hay each winter so that the stray cats would have a place to go to stay warm and out of the cold. Jo made sure there was plenty of cat food and water throughout the year. In addition to cats, Jo also had a love for dogs. She was always watching pet shows on tv and wanted to adopt every animal she saw.

Regarding God, Jo identified as a Baptist and had accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. When she and her family attended Trinity Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher along with her daughter Kim teaching children about Jesus and His love for them. In addition to Trinity Baptist Church; Jo, Don, Abi and Hollie attended Countryside Baptist Church. As her health deteriorated, Jo leveraged technology and attended weekly services online watching and listening to her nephews Rev. Gary Berry and Rev. Galen Barry preach at their respected churches for Sunday Services.

In 1977, Jo met her soulmate, her best friend and the love of her life. Jo married Donald E.Hill on Aug. 6th, 1977 at Melvern Lake. They have shared 47 wonderful years together. During this time, they shared their love of fishing, traveling to Branson, children and attending their church together. Don was there holding Jo’s hand when she went to sleep here on earth and woke up in the presence of the Lord God.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kimberley Yanez; granddaughter Chasity Ghering; brother James Clark; brother-in-law Rev. Gerald Berry; and son-in-law Danny Yanez.
