Jerry R. Irey, Topeka, passed away quietly at the Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, Kansas on March 21, 2025. He was 80 years old. He was born on November 11, 1944 in Ottawa, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Effie Irey of Melvern and a brother Marvin Irey from Topeka, Kansas. He is survived by a twin brother, Jim (Linda) Irey from Melvern, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation is planned and gravesides services will be planned for a later date. Jerry graduated from Melvern High School in 1962 where he played sports, including a State Basketball tournament champion in 1962. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. He successfully hunted bear, Moose and Elk in Alaska and Wyoming. He made several fishing trips to Canada with his brothers and other friends.

Jerry was a Fireman for 33 years and later served as Captain in Topeka, Kansas. Prior to being a fireman, he worked for Kansas City Power & Light company. He was an active member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He will be missed by his friends and relatives.
