
Ellen Jane Johnson, known to her family and friends as Jane, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the age of 85 in Waverly, Kansas. Born on October 23, 1939, in Ottawa, Kansas, Jane was a lifelong resident who left an enduring impact on those who knew her.
Jane graduated from high school in 1957 and later married the love of her life, Neil Wendell Johnson, on March 4, 1967. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, and shared passions.
For 18 years, Jane worked at Our Own Hardware Distribution Center before continuing her career at Kansas State Bank in Ottawa, where she dedicated another 18 years of service before retiring in 2020. Her strong work ethic and friendly nature made her a valued colleague and a trusted presence in her community.
Jane had a deep love for racing and was an avid supporter of Kansas Jayhawks basketball. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from home, her enthusiasm for sports brought joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Jay Stewart; her mother, Frances Stewart; and her sister, Charity Ann Butts (Stewart).
Jane is survived by her two sons, Doug Johnson (Angie) of Waverly, Kansas, and Bob Johnson (Jenna) of Ottawa, Kansas. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Morgan Bailey (Jordan), Lindsey Johnson (Jake McGowin), Larson Johnson, and Shayden Johnson, and great-grandmother to Lynlei and Laityn Bailey.
Jane will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
A service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday April 3, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.
