OTTAWA — Work on the new U.S. 59 in Franklin County will be completed in
November, said Kansas Department of Transportation engineer Mike Stringer. Work on the Douglas County section of the new highway has begun and should be done next year, he said. The new U.S. 59 will be a four-lane expressway between Lawrence and to a point on I-35 northeast of Ottawa.
