OTTAWA — The president has named Franklin County a federal disaster area because of the destructive storms of early July. Winds reaching 100 miles an hour wrecked the airport and a motel, overturned trucks and uprooted power lines.
County administrator Lisa Johnson said she didn’t know how much money is involved but the county and cities should be reimbursed for their losses because of the storm.
The declaration also includes Anderson, Linn, Bourbon and Sedgwick counties.
