OTTAWA — There was too much dirty work afoot along John Brown Road. County public works director Jim Haag told commissioners Wednesday that the state wants to haul in new fill rather than pull dirt from ditches along the road. The fill, which would be paid by the Kansas Department of Transportation, would cost about $15,600. Haag said taking dirt out of the ditches would cause erosion problems. Commissioners agreed.
